My sprint triathlon is in about 2 week’s time. This should be the time where I am packing in the last miles and preparing to taper a week before my race. Unfortunately due to a late registration for this triathlon (mid June) and with all the craziness of this past month, my training has definitely been at a stand still. I’m going to try to do as much training as my body will allow, before putting myself in a position of injury of course, and slow down a bit a few days prior to race day as opposed to a week before. This is something that I would definitely NOT recommend to anybody; proper training should always be done in order for you to do well and be safe. I’m going to ignore this one rule only this time because my Olympic distance triathlon was late May and I’ve been actively training for the Adventure Challenge which has allowed me to be fit enough to compete…I just probably will not get my ultimate personal best or desired time. This really sucks, but it’s okay because no matter which event you are preparing for, life will continue around it. The time I get in my Sprint Triathlon on July 25th will be the best I can do during this specific time in my life.
If you are able to do something without putting yourself in danger, I think YouShouldTri!
